Randall “Randy” Dowdey

Service: A celebration of life will be held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, August 29 at Nick Dowdey’s home in Rock Valley, IA.

         Randall “Randy” Dowdey, age 63, died of an apparent heart attack on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 in Canton, SD.  A celebration of life will be held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, August 29 at Nick Dowdey’s home in Rock Valley, IA.

            Randy was born on December 15, 1956 in Lynwood, CA to Kenneth and Ramona (Warne) Dowdey.  He graduated from West Lyon High School in 1975 and later obtained his associate degree.  He married Lorenda (Donelson) Grebner on August 17, 2002 at Newton Hills State Park.  The couple made their home near Canton, SD.   Randy worked for many years at Inwood Furniture and ran Dowdey Maintenance Service for over 20 years.  He loved living on the farm, saving animals, and Ham radio.  Randy’s call sign was KE0IEZ.

            He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Lorenda; children: Nick (Deidre) Dowdey, Kristen (Davis) Beyer, Jason (Krista) Dowdey, Daniel Grebner, Katherine (Paul) Heiman, Suzanne (Ryan) Davis, and Elizabeth Grebner; parents, Ken (Mona) Dowdey; sister, Renae (Les) Kramer; 14 grandchildren; along with numerous extended family and friends.

  1. Randy was a good friend in the 90s…i had not seen him for a long time. This makes me very sad…i am sad for his family members as well,! He was a good person!

  2. I liked Randy very much. He was so talented, He worked much at Elms Apartments, of which I was half owner. I respect him much. I was told I have the virus and now have to stay home for 10 days.   3. The old residents at The Elms are sadden to learn of Randy’s death. He was our wonderful maintenance man for all the years I have lived at The Elms. I will be lifting you up in prayer.
