Visitation: Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 p.m., with family present from 5-7 p.m., at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton.
Service: Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 27 at Canton United Methodist Church.

            Terry Short, age 63, died Wednesday, July 24, 2019 under hospice care at his home.  Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 27 at Canton United Methodist Church.  Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 p.m., with family present from 5-7 p.m., at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton.

          Terry LeRoy Short, the son of LeRoy & LaVonne (Weeg) Short, was born on September 7, 1955 in Canton, SD.  He attended Banner Country School until 8th grade and graduated from Canton High School.  Terry was united in marriage to Lynn Arnston on July 5, 1988.

          Terry worked in construction and then for Huntting Elevator in Canton for many years.  In 1994 he began farming.  In addition, he hauled grain for CHS in his off time.  Terry’s favorite times were tractor pulling with his daughter, Maggie.  They spent many weekends at tractor pull events with his 966- “Midnite Rider”.  He also loved riding his Harley with many friends.

          Grateful to have shared his life are his wife of 31 years, Lynn; daughter, Maggie (Joe) Meyer; 2 grandsons, Hudson and Aiden; brothers, Tim (Gloria), Inwood and Bruce (Amy), Beresford; sisters, Karen Plucker, Canton, Marlyce (Bob) Harris, Hudson, Jackie (Doug) Glenn, Canton, Lori (Jeff) Davelaar, Hudson and Janel (Fred) Kaltenbach, Canton; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

  1. Lynn and family, you have my heartfelt sympathies. I have memories of Terry going years back with my brother Donnie . They both were fun crazy guys! Had many laughs with them ! May you find comfort with all the love and prayers from friends. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Diane

  4. Terry & I live on the same road & would meet and visit often. Some days we would agree on topics and disagree on others. The one thing strong with him was family, friends and neighbors. Even though we did not see eye to eye on all issues I always looked forward to our next visit. I will miss him greatly. Cliff Sorum

    I just really wish I would have been able to spend more time with over the years and had more time to spend with him in the years to come..
    Unfortunately, when someone is taken from us so early in their wonderful life, this can never be.
    However, I hope that our family and friends will always remember all of the laughs, joys, jokes, and straight to the point with no BS talks we all had with Terry….
