Eugene “Gene” S. Ingebrigtson

Visitation: Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-8 p.m., family present from 6-8 p.m., at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton, SD.
Service: Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 16 at Canton Lutheran Church.

    Eugene S. Ingebrigtson, age 86, died Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the Sioux Falls VA Medical Center.  Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m.  Wednesday, May 16 at Canton Lutheran Church.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-8 p.m., family present from 6-8 p.m., at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton, SD.

        Eugene was born on August 26, 1931 in Fairview, SD to Korrell and Gertrude Ingebrigtson.  He graduated from Canton High School in 1949.  He married Mary Lea Detlie on December 27, 1952 in Hudson, SD.  He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1952- 1954.  He was a dedicated craftsman, working construction in the Canton & Brandon area from 1954 – 2010.

Grateful for sharing his life are his children, Dawn (Don) Rice, Rapid City, SD, Evan (Pat McGee) Ingebrigtson, Sioux Falls, SD, Mary (Rick) Block, Dell Rapids, SD, and Michael (Michelle) Ingebrigtson, Canton, SD; 14 grandchildren, Donna (Shawn) Bottema, Debra (Marc) Muzio, Diana (Blake) Roberts, Dane (Kelly) Ingebrigtson, Nolan (Susan) Ingebrigtson, Megan Ingebrigtson, Ellen (Michael) Pharis, Kerry (Scott) VanOverbeke, Shuree (Clayton) Jacobson, Jamie Schmode, Devin (Hannah) Ingebrigtson, Amanda (Cley) DeRyke, Abby Roskam (Jordan Johnson) and Adam Roskam; 19 great-grandchildren, Parker, Bode & Jenner Bottema, Destiny & Deidra Long,  Jaxon Muzio, Asher Roberts, Bjorn Ingebrigtson, Piper Ingebrigtson, Alexandrea, Madysen, Hannah, & Tinnley VanOverbeke, Zach Block, Carson & Corbin Jacobson, Makenzie & Grayden Schmode, & Wyatt DeRyke; sister, Lorraine Matzen, Sioux Falls, SD; special friends, Bill Moen, Ray Olson, and Charlie Hilt; along with many extended relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Mary Lea in 2010.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to Juvenile Diabetes.

  5. My sincere sympathy in the loss of your father. Gene worked with my father Ivan Wyum building homes in Brandon. Many laughs, stories and cups of coffee were shared together. The coffee pot will never go dry in their eternal home. Blessed be Gene’s memory.
