Visitation: Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton.
Service: Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Sept.12, 2011 at Canton Lutheran Church, with burial at Forest Hill Cemetery near Canton.
Martha A. Fodness, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the Canton Good Samaritan Center. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Sept.12, 2011 at Canton Lutheran Church, with burial at Forest Hill Cemetery near Canton. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton. Family will greet visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to Canton Good Samaritan Society.
Martha Amanda Fodness was born March 7, 1912 at Wakonda, SD, to Carl and Maggie (Shannahan) Larson.
Martha was united in marriage to Palmer Fodness February 22, 1934. They lived their entire married life in Canton, where they raised two children, Karen and Marlo. Palmer died in 1968.
Martha was in the restaurant business for fifty years with her twin sister, Marge Enstad, at Margie’s Coffee Shop. She also was in food service at the Good Samaritan Center for 25 years. Martha had a special relationship with her twin sister, Marge, as they were known as the “Larson Twins”. She was a member of Canton Lutheran Church, Canton Senior Citizen Center, American Legion Auxiliary, and the monthly birthday club. Martha enjoyed dancing, playing cards, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Karen Rollag, Carmichael, CA; daughter-in-law, Clarice (Tom) Fodness Nystrup, Akron, IA; grandchildren- Rhonda (David) Stotyn, Greg (Kim) Rollag, and Troy (Diane) Fodness; great-grandchildren- Jacob and Kyle Stotyn, Justin and Alexis Rollag, and Nicholas and Andrew Fodness; and many nieces and nephews.
She was prceded in death by her parents, her husband, Palmer, son, Marlo; grand-daughter, Joni, twin sister, Marge, brothers, Ralph and Clarence Larson, and son-in-law, Glenn Rollag.
